Kutná Hora

Kutná Hora

Kutná Hora, a medieval silver mining community, was the second-wealthiest town in the Kingdom of Bohemia. The town's former wealth is still reflected in the diversity of its architectural treasures and in the structure of the city centre which has been preserved until the present day. During your walk you will see the Gothic Church of St. Barbara and the Vlašský (Italian) Court, the former mint, and gaze in wonder at the many beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque town houses and the unique stone fountains dating back to the 15th century. You will also visit one of the most unusual burial places in the world, the ossuary in nearby Sedlec. The chapel decorations are made out of more than 40,000 human bones and include a chandelier and the coat of arms of the Schwarzenberg family. Kutná Hora has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995.
